Buying A New Puppy …

Too many dogs are given up because people didn’t do their homework before they bought their new puppy. Few realised that their lives would never be the same again. Living with a dog means being able to live w a little messiness in our lives. They may get inconvenient, they may grow up bigger than you expected them to be … many give up their dogs because they cannot handle living w them any more. That’s why we have so many abandoned dogs every day.

So before you go out and buy yourselves a puppy, may I suggest you ask yourselves a few questions …
1. Can you describe the breed’s characteristics?
2. What is this breed’s temperament like?
3. How big will the dog get?
4. How much exercise does the dog need?
5. Does this breed bark a lot?
6. Does this breed shed?
7. How often will the dog need to be groomed?
8. What are the best training methods for this dog?
9. How old will he be before he acts like an adult dog?
10. Does this breed do well with children?
11. Does this breed do well with other pets?
12. Has the breeder done health screenings for the sire and dam prior to breeding a litter?
13. Does the breeder allow you interaction with the puppy ?
14. Are you allowed to see the sire and dam ?
